Cartoon Allies Magazine

The history of Inkstains goes back as far as a decade. At the turn of the 21st century, SVA's dedicated cartoonist population took it upon itself to create a print publication to showcase student work and give them a voice. Inkstains began as its own club, separate from the equally young Cartoonist Alliance, and its early issues featured submissions from such illustrious SVA alumni as Raina Telgemeier. This self-published venue for student promotion was distributed throughout our school's halls and from SVA's booth at many a convention. Halfway through its lifespan, overlap between Inkstains editorship and Cartoon Allies officers encouraged the organizations to become one, with editing and printing of the regular magazine becoming part of the expected duties of CA's leadership.

Since then, the overwhelming responsibility of running both a club and a magazine led to the decision for Inkstains to become its own organization again, reborn as INK.

As a digital-only product, INK is a very different type of magazine, creating a smashing product while leaving a void for a print, open-submissions magazine at SVA. Cartoon Allies is filling that void with a new magazine to be printed for MoCCA Fest and Fresh Meat, and we need your submissions!

The CA Magazine is brought to you by The Princesses: Heather Nunnelly, Hanh Nguyen, Laura Knetzger,
Emily Kay Jolkovski, and Pablo Castro.
