THE STORY
Liar Game, written and illustrated by Shinobu Kaitani, follows the story of the naively honest college student Nao Kanzaki, who accidentally gets herself involved in the titular game by opening a package containing 100 million yen. As the title suggests, this is a game where you must lie and cheat to steal other opponents' money for your own personal gain. The losers face a debt of 100 million yen to repay.
WHAT'S TO LOVE?
Each round of the Liar Game has many twists and turn that keep the reader guessing at what might happen next, featuring games of strategy that require meticulous attention to detail. The amount of effort put into each round is apparent in the writing, and the ingenuity of the other characters is striking. It can take a while to get used to the amount of text you have to read in order to understand what's going on, but after a thorough reading, the tricks and set-up can become much easier to follow.
